Ok people, I know you have been waiting a long time for updates, especially the Scion life forum. Thanks for your patience and love over the past couple of months.
So we had Bucky Lasek test the car and set it up, but he had schedule conflict and decided to try his hand at Rally, I guess it makes sense, that way he can get into Xgames rally, right?
So fortunate as we are, we found Michele Abbate, who has been driving Scions for quite some time and had great success with them. The car is ready to go, but needs some more tweaks to make sure we are competitive enough. Here was the plan, take the car out to the MOTO IQ Tuner car challenge, go wheel to wheel in the Tuner under class and let Michele battle it out. The car hasn't had much experience in this field, but we were confident that with her driving skills a bit of good luck and some proper chassis set up, we would be reasonably successful.
So the car is set up and ready to go, freshly rebuilt KW 3-way race coilovers and alignment and some Hankook RS-3 tires, but not realizing it wouldn't be competitive enough this weekend. The Hankook street tires were the original tires on our setup, so we needed a baseline number to truly see how much difference the tires were going to make and how close were we going to get with the street tires vs our competitors using racing DOT slicks. Overall Michele raced a good race, because we had shock failure on the first day due to some bad luck and she kept the car together and raced with only 3 operating shocks. I was amazed, but she was totally in control and kept the tC together, a true professional. Check out the front left shock, that's absolutely no dampening in the front left shock.
We were battling a world challenge TSX on DOT slicks and we were about 6 seconds behind the winner. We ended up swapping out to some lower model shocks temporarily and she took a couple seconds off with a best weekend lap of 2:049 which was very impressive.
So of course we aren't done, tC is the heaviest of the all the competitors there, so we plan on putting her on an extensive diet program, tuning the engine for more low end power, fixing the KW 3 ways and getting the magical Hankook Z214 DOT slicks on there. I think after all those changes, she should be ready to battle with the rest of the pack. The factory tC chassis is amazing and ready to do battle right out the box. Stay tuned for more updates. -EK
