BURGERFEST 2009 WEDS VS GRUPPE-S

The Wager: WEDS
Sales Manager Yoshiaki "JR" has challenged our very own Gruppe-S
Sales Team member Braydon Tsuyuki to the ultimate challenge of skill and grace. The
challenger Manager Yoshiaki will attempt to eat two pounds of grilled beefy madness
topped off with every cheese known to man in a single sitting and keep it down within
the time limit.

The burger will be prepared by world famous Fuddruckers on El Toro in Lake Forest.
If Yoshiaki can hold down the beef, Braydon will have to buy a new set of WEDS TC105N.
After struggling for an hour or so with the charbroiled mass, a couple of bottles of
Pepto Bismol and fighting some serious food coma, Challenger Yoshiaki wins the
Challenge!

Note from the loser Braydon: "The wheels always looked pretty gangster on our 350Z, plus they are
super lightweight and strong so they are going to make the perfect track wheels for my Evo 8."
Wheel Specs:
WEDS TC105N in Neon Green
18x9.5 +35 All Around
Wrapped in Hankook RS-3's 265/35/18
(CURRENTLY ONLY SET IN THE US)

Gruppe-S gets their asses kicked by Ramen!

Gruppe-S gets their asses kicked by Ramen!
So we all decided to go out to honor Kyong's employment with Dynamic
Autosports and take him out with the employees. We decided on Orochan
Ramen because of their challenge and you know how Koreans are about
eating spicy foods and even a challenge. The challenge is, finish the
Special #2 Orochan Ramen within 30 minutes and get your face posted on
the wall of bravery.

Here is the Ramen

My strategy - separate the noodles and Serrano peppers and eat that out
of the broth. Then let the soup cool in the meantime and then chug it
before the time limit.

The Dilemma - I don't know what the hell they put in the soup base, but
I accomplished eating the noodles and about 30 Serrano pepper slices in
about 10 minutes. I waited the soup to cool another 10 minutes and
chugged 1/3 of the soup base. The problem with this plan is that I
didn't account for my body going into shock. I think the rapid ingestion
of the soup base caused some crazy chemical imbalance, I started getting
nauseous, almost threw up on the table, body overheating with sweating
coming from every single pore in my body and both hands and feet
tingling to the point I had to sit on the bathroom floor. I was
seriously going to call 911

Weird thing I was back to normal in 5 minutes, chugged 2 Calpico waters
and was ready to go to the shooting range. Also my stomach was a bit
sour

The face of defeat!

Ryuji Miki & the A’PEXi / Hankook Tire RX-7 finish on the Podium!

APEX Integration Inc. and the A’PEXi / Hankook Tire RX-7 Team would like to thank all of our sponsors: Hankook Tires, Exedy Clutch, R-Magic, RAYS (Mackin Industries), NGK Spark Plugs, Bride, R.Y.O, Seibon Carbon, and Torco Oil for their support!

Round 4 of the 2009 Formula Drift Series would be center stage for a
weekend jammed pack with aggressive high speed entries, billowing tire
smoke, and the excitement of a night event at this hot Las Vegas desert
venue.
Special thanks go out to the crew at Dynamic Autosports, S&A Design, Drive Apparel, Downforce, Hiro’s Auto Repair,
MotorMavens.com, and APEX Co. Ltd. Japan.
Ryuji Miki and the A’PEXi / Hankook Tire RX-7 team had been finishing consistently in the Top 16 rounds prior to this event, and had their sights set on higher finishing results. The driver, the machine, and team went through early practice without a hitch, dialing in the settings for the upcoming main event. However, during the tail end of the open practice right before qualifying, the car would come to a halt, mid-track, and was
towed back to the pits. Crew chief, Charles Griffice and team mechanic, Darren Masumori worked diligently to change out what was a broken differential, and made the proper repairs in time to send the car out during the 2nd qualifying round. Miki’s experience was a key element in attempting a qualification with 1 run, and was able to qualify in the 22nd position.

Miki’s road to the podium would be a tough one, as he would run 2 One More Times versus hometown crowd favorite Tommy Suell in the Top 32 round. In
the Top 16 round, Miki and the 13B-rotary powered RX-7 would face off against
the V-10 powered Dodge Viper of Samuel Hubinette, and would come out
with the win, shadowing the speed, angle, and movement of Hubinette. The
Great 8 round would be a battle of the rotary engines, up against the 20B
3-rotor powered RX-8 of Bergenholtz Racing, driven by Justin Pawlak. Ryuji
Miki’s aggressive driving from entry to finish and staying on the rear bumper
of Pawlak would prove to be enough to move onto the semi-finals. In the Best
4 round, Miki would face another V-8 machine, driven by current points leader,
Chris Forsberg. He continued to push forward with the aggressive style that he
had been known for during his championship season in D1GP series.
As a result, Ryuji Miki and the A’PEXi / Hankook Tire RX-7 would face off with
Hankook Tire teammate, Tanner Foust and the V-8 powered Scion tC in the
Finals! Miki would follow Foust right up on the rear bumper of the Scion tC, but, took a line that would cover hitm up in the smoke cloud produced fromthe Hankook tires, forcing a correction, and a final result in 2nd place. The Hankook Ventus R-S3 Tires with Ryuji Miki’s driving in-sync with the machine,
and the effors from the entire staff of the team proved to be a successful combination, resulting in a podium finish and moving up in the points standings from 25th to 17th position for the 2009 season.

The A’PEXi / Hankook Drift Team looks forward to Round 5 at Evergreen
Speedway in Monroe, Washington to repeat the performance in Las Vegas,
if not better it by striving for the top of the podium...

"Drifting Dirty"

Posted by Gruppe S On Monday, July 20, 2009 0 comments
Check out our latest video "Drifting Dirty" Featuring the Gruppe S Drift Team and a cast of beautiful women.
For Immediate Release:
Formula D Round 4
Las Vegas, NV
July 11th, 2009

Las Vegas, Nevada was center ring for Round 4 of the Formula Drift 2009
Championship series. Located at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the tricky high speed entry, hot track conditions and the night lights made this an exciting event.

With Robbie Nishida standing in 6th place and Eric O’Sullivan and Ryuji Miki feeling the pressure to catch up, Team Dynamic Autosports went all in. Bringing the drivers in one week early allowed all 3 drivers to tune out any bugs and really get to work to bring a podium back for everyone. Included in the week of practice was some valuable time to videotape a viral YouTube commercial that would feature all 3 cars/drivers and sweeten the sponsorship for 2009. The backdrop for the video was the El Toro airbase. It was shot and produced by one of the industry’s finest production team.

The stage was set for a successful Round 4 finish for the team. Eric O’Sullivan was perfect this weekend piloting the Rockstar/Hankook Tire Subaru STi. He qualified 13th and had his best qualifying runs this year. His flawless qualifying runs earned him the unfortunate task of matching up with Tanner Foust, his Rockstar Energy drink teammate, who qualified 20th and was coming back from a disappointing non-qualification round in New Jersey. Matched up in the Top 32 round, Eric had a mistake free run but Tanner proved to be too much to handle and advanced on to the Top 16 round. Eric O’Sullivan is currently 3rd place in the rookie standings for the season and expects to finish 1st this year. Eric is having a great run for his first year in Formula D and we look forward to seeing more from him in the upcoming events.

Robbie Nishida qualified 1st overall, earning an extra 8 bonus points, and was set for a podium run. Robbie’s qualifying runs showed the excellence of the Hankook Tire/Dynamic Autosports 350Z by stunning the judges with one of the fastest entry speeds and most dangerous entry lines this weekend. Robbie was on fire and the team was expecting a podium finish. Robbie made quick work of Casper Canul and moved on to the Top 16 round where he would meet Tyler McQuarrie. With Robbie leading Tyler on the first run, he quickly created an advantage. On the chase run however, Robbie was pressuring Tyler and became overly aggressive and attacked him into the smoke and had to stop suddenly to prevent a crash. Subsequently, Robbie ended up spinning out, allowing Tyler to move on. Robbie is still in the point’s chase for the championship nd has his eyes’ on placing in the top 3 for the year. Fortunately, our next stop is Seattle, Washington, Robbie’s favorite track that produced a podium finish for him last year.

Right before qualifying, the dark horse Ryuji Miki and the Hankook Tire/APEX RX-7 had some mechanical issues and the team was forced to change the differential and miss the 1st qualifying run. Miki’s D1GP Championship experience proved to be vital, as he was able to settle himself and qualify 22nd. Miki’s tough road lead him through Tommy Suell and 2 OMTs) (One More Times). His rotary powered RX-7 was challenged with the might Sam Hubinette and his Dodge Viper. Miki made quick work of him which provided him with the opportunity to face off with Justin Pawlak and his 20B RX-8. His aggressive chase run crushed Justin, giving Miki the chance to run against the current points champion, Chris Forsberg. His continued persistence and aggressiveness was rewarded with a spot in the final round against his Hankook Tire teammate Tanner Foust and the V-8 powered Scion tc. Unfortunately, Miki was blinded by the billowing smoke produced by the Hankook tires, which forced a small correction and giving Miki a well deserved and long overdue 2nd place victory.

Team Dynamic Autosports with the Hankook Tire/Dynamic Autosports 350z & Rockstar Energy Drink/ Hankook Tire Subaru STi would like to thank all our sponsors:

Hankook Tires, Rockstar Energy Drink, Seibon, APR, BC, ACT, Weds, Enkei, Status, APEXi, KW, HPI, AEM, C-West, Crooks and Castles, Attic Clothing, JE Pistons, Portflow, PPG,Nissan, Subaru, Raydog Graphics Instyle Graphics and Driveshaft Shop

Team APEXi/ Hankook Tire would like to extend a special thanks to:
